Details: The Shepherd’s Market is a client-choice food pantry serving the hungry and needy in south Baton Rouge. The pantry is open every Monday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. and every Tuesday and Thursday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Doors to the pantry open one hour prior to each shift. The Shepherd’s Market serves 35 families per day, or 400 families per month. Our focus area includes zip codes 70808, 70810 and 70820, but we serve any family in need. |

Details: Roughly 15,000 duplicated people are fed each year through HOPE’s Client Choice Food Pantry. The grocery store setting creates an atmosphere of dignity by allowing clients to select food that meets the nutritional and health needs of their families. Clients also have access to a Client Resource Specialist to help identify and address other needs. Additionally, financial literacy, healthy living, nutrition and gardening classes are offered for those interested in moving forward. This program serves the 70805 zip code. Our unique Client Choice Food Pantry creates an atmosphere of dignity for clients by enabling them to shop in a grocery store-like setting and make wise selections based on tastes and nutritional needs of their families. Hours: 9:00 AM | Mon, Wed and Fri. Fridays reserved for seniors and disabled only. We serve the first 30 households in line. Clients can shop in the pantry once per calendar month. Every time you visit, please bring a photo ID and proof that you live in the 70805 zip code! You also need to provide proof of your income and the names and birth dates of all members of your household on your first visit. |

Details: The Society of St. Vincent de Paul is an international, non-profit, charitable organization that has a rich history of service to the needy of our community. Our mission, through person-to-person contact, mass feeding, sheltering and other channels, encompasses every form of aid which alleviates suffering and promotes dignity and integrity. All races, creeds, colors, origins, castes, opinions and genders are served. In 1982, the Society opened the St. Vincent de Paul Dining Room, which is now the number one hot meal provider in our community. Located at 220 St. Vincent de Paul Place, our dining room serves a hot, nutritious meal every day of the year, as well as a brown bag supper Monday through Friday. We serve the homeless, elderly, transient and poor. |

Details: The Disch-Declouet Social Service Center, a non-profit organization, serves the poor and needy of Iberia parish with immediate assistance for critical and basic human needs. The assistance is provided without a waiting period and without charge. Our mission includes treating all clients with dignity, respect, and cheerfulness; counseling them on personal and financial issues; encouraging them in their illnesses, grief, and other troubles; and praying with them.The Social Service Center has no paid staff and is run by approximately 35 dedicated, permanent volunteers. We also have temporary volunteers, such as seminarians who work at the center to get some small ideal of the scope of poverty and the problems of the poor in Iberia Parish and how the Social Service Center addresses this. Our funding sources are: Individual donations (56%); Churches (24%); Untied Way (16%); Iberia parish (4%). Almost 40 Years of Serving Basic Human Needs. Each year we provide approximately: 4500 instances of utility assistance, 4500 bags of groceries, 3500 instances of clothing assistance, 300 instances of rent assistance, dentistry, burial assistance, transportation, hurricane relief, school uniforms, school supplies, milk, counseling on reducing expenses and increasing income, referrals to other agencies and prayer. |

Details: His Hands Outreach Ministry is sponsored by First Baptist Church of Jonesboro and supported by numerous churches in the community including Beech Springs Baptist Church, Caney Lake Baptist Church, Jonesboro United Methodist Church, St. Lucy's Catholic Church, Siloam Baptist Church and Springhill Baptist Church as well as many individuals and Jonesboro Walmart. The store front ministry is now open Monday through Friday mornings from 8:00 - 10:00 a.m. for food and clothing distribution free of charge to Jackson Parish residents in need of assistance (based on income guidelines) as well as providing household items for burnout victimss and school uniform assistance. Currently over 400 families receive grocery assistance once every three months and over 100 individuals receive clothing assistance once every 30 days. The ministry's long term goal is to be able to provide grocery assistance to our families every other month but we need your help to do so both financially and by being our volunteer base. Donations of clothing and household items are also needed. Any items that we are unable to use are sent to Rolling Hills or to Charity Shoes and Clothing in Dallas, Texas. You may drop off donations by our front door on weekday mornings before 10:00 a.m. After that time, please leave your donations on the ramp by the side door. Please note that all food donations need to be dropped off on the ramp regardless of the time of donation. |

Details: St. Mary Outreach, Inc. (est. Oct. 25, 1985) is a private, non-profit, and tax-exempt corporation, which is organized on a non-stock basis. Although there are no stockholders, our organization utilizes a corporate structure similar to a for-profit organization. Members elect a board of trustees, which includes a president, vice-president, secretary, and a treasurer. The board also employs an executive director who is responsible for day-to-day Outreach operations, many of which are discussed and evaluated at monthly board meetings alongside financial matters, program activities, goals, and the effectiveness of the programs administered by Outreach. At present, our office staff includes two part-time and two full-time employees, as well as several volunteers for whom we’re very grateful. Finally, we’re proud to mention our volunteer advisory committee, which reviews applications for rent and utility assistance. The Outreach center supports a food and hygiene pantry to accommodate the general and specific needs of our patrons. We aim to provide a well-balanced diet, including special needs, as economically as possible. We also have a clothing room available. |
