Details: The Society of St. Vincent de Paul is an international, non-profit, charitable organization that has a rich history of service to the needy of our community. Our mission, through person-to-person contact, mass feeding, sheltering and other channels, encompasses every form of aid which alleviates suffering and promotes dignity and integrity. All races, creeds, colors, origins, castes, opinions and genders are served. In 1982, the Society opened the St. Vincent de Paul Dining Room, which is now the number one hot meal provider in our community. Located at 220 St. Vincent de Paul Place, our dining room serves a hot, nutritious meal every day of the year, as well as a brown bag supper Monday through Friday. We serve the homeless, elderly, transient and poor.

Details: The Shepherd’s Market is a client-choice food pantry serving the hungry and needy in south Baton Rouge. The pantry is open every Monday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. and every Tuesday and Thursday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Doors to the pantry open one hour prior to each shift. The Shepherd’s Market serves 35 families per day, or 400 families per month. Our focus area includes zip codes 70808, 70810 and 70820, but we serve any family in need.

Details: Roughly 15,000 duplicated people are fed each year through HOPE’s Client Choice Food Pantry. The grocery store setting creates an atmosphere of dignity by allowing clients to select food that meets the nutritional and health needs of their families. Clients also have access to a Client Resource Specialist to help identify and address other needs. Additionally, financial literacy, healthy living, nutrition and gardening classes are offered for those interested in moving forward. This program serves the 70805 zip code. Our unique Client Choice Food Pantry creates an atmosphere of dignity for clients by enabling them to shop in a grocery store-like setting and make wise selections based on tastes and nutritional needs of their families. Hours: 9:00 AM | Mon, Wed and Fri. Fridays reserved for seniors and disabled only. We serve the first 30 households in line. Clients can shop in the pantry once per calendar month. Every time you visit, please bring a photo ID and proof that you live in the 70805 zip code! You also need to provide proof of your income and the names and birth dates of all members of your household on your first visit.
