Details: Since September 1987, a delcious hot meal is prepared in the organization's dining facility to feed all the hungry people in the community that will come. Thousands of hungry people have passed through our doors. A week's supply of groceries is distributed to needy families and individuals on an emergency basis. Many families and individuals have benefited from our in-house food bank. LWCSS realizes that handouts are not the answer but often times this gestures is the door opener to positively affecting peoples lives. |

Details: On October 1, 2013 we opend our doors as The Food Pantry of New Orleans serving on the first day, 153 households and serving 269 Hot Meals to individuals, of which 133 were senior citizens that we delivered the meals to their homes. The Food Pantry of New Orleans is a full service Food Pantry and Hot Meal distribution center targeting both the children and the elderly of New Orleans East. We excited to have Giving HOPE and Second Harvest work together to open and operate a much needed resource in New Orleans East. |
