The non-profit organization, funded by philanthropic and community support, is devoted to feeding the hungry, advocacy, and education. Details: The Serra Mesa Food Pantry was created to provide food to individuals and/or families who live in the Serra Mesa area and who are experiencing temporary struggles in obtaining basic necessities during illness, unemployment, or other crisis. Details: The Jacobs & Cushman San Diego Food Bank is the largest hunger-relief organization in San Diego County. Last year, the Food Bank distributed nearly 20 million pounds of food, and the Food Bank served, on average, 320,000 people per month in San Diego County. The Food Bank receives food from the USDA, food manufacturers, food retailers, the agricultural sector, food drives, and through financial contributions that enable us to purchase protein-rich foods, fresh produce, and dry staple foods such as beans, oatmeal, and rice. We also benefit from the generosity of more than 28,000 volunteers annually that help to sort and distribute donated and purchased food products. The Food Bank works to acquire, store, organize, and distribute food through a network of 330 nonprofit partner organizations that include food pantries, soup kitchens, homeless and residential shelters, youth programs, senior centers, and low-income daycare centers in communities throughout San Diego County. The Food Bank also distributes food directly to those in need at over 150 distribution sites throughout the county. In 2010, the families of Joan and Irwin Jacobs and Stephen and Marjorie Cushman donated $1.76 million to pay off the Food Bank’s mortgage on our Miramar warehouse making the organization effectively debt free. To honor the generosity and long-term support of both families, the Food Bank was renamed the Jacobs & Cushman San Diego Food Bank. |

Details: At Mama’s Kitchen we believe that every person is entitled to the basic necessity of life - nutritious food. As a volunteer-driven, nonprofit organization, we prepare and deliver food to men, women and children who are affected by AIDS or cancer. Mama's Kitchen delivers three nutritional meals a day, seven days a week at no charge to men, women and children living with AIDS or cancer. Additionally, Mama's Kitchen provides pantry services (Mama's Pantry) to people affected by AIDS. Details: Our Community Care Centers in San Diego County currently offer a range of programs for seniors, youth, and those in need of emergency services. We strategically partner with schools, churches, and other community locations to bring our services where they are needed most. Our Senior Companion Program operates throughout the county. We have two excellent student mentoring programs working in partnership with three high schools in the South Bay. Our emergency services are mostly concentrated in Chula Vista. Details: Being Alive continues to offer the BASD commodities program to low income, HIV symptomatic persons. Current eligibility requirements for new clients of the commodities programs are similar to those for the previous Food Voucher program. Commodities are available to our clients each month. Shelf stable food items (canned goods, cereal, juices, pastas, etc.) and fresh produce items vary each month and are issued Monday through Thursday once each month. Details: HUM aids the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of urban residents by offering food, clothing, resources, acceptance, and love. Through service and love HUM is able to embrace individuals and lead them into a relationship with God. We love people in practical ways, share the gospel in ordinary ways and disciple in radical ways. Food and Raiment- We distribute clothes and food to needy families, single parents, and homeless in need. The distribution takes place every Sunday after our 10AM worship service; Street Outreach Teams- Groups go out on the streets to minister to the homeless’ physical and spiritual needs. With back pack filled with food, clothing and hygiene supplies, the group’s fellowship, encourage, and pray with the homeless. This outreach takes place every Friday at 6PM; Storefront- We provide a home cooked meal for homeless teenagers. Through this we are able to build relationships and show them real love; Community Dinners- A free, warm, dinner for the homeless in our community, designed to create a community or family feel. Thursdays at 5PM and Sundays at 4PM; Bless the City- Our Christmas outreach for needy families, we provide a Christmas meal and toys for every kid. This is a night of fun, family, friendship, worship, evangelism, and giving. |

Details: God's Extended Hand is a place of evangelical ministry aimed at showing the homless population of San Diego the Love of God. We endeavor to do this by providing a gathering place where they can come and experience a sit down restaurant style meal in a peace filled Christ focused environment. All meals and services are offered free and without any charge on a first come first served basis. Morning Meal service doors open at 8:00 AM, message given at 9:30 AM, Breakfast served at 10:00 AM. Mission services close for the morning at 11:00AM. (closed Wednesday); Evening Meal service (weekdays) doors open at 4:00 PM, message given at 6:00 PM., Dinner served at 6:30 PM. Mission services close for the evening at 7:00 PM. (closed Wed.); Evening Meal service (Sat. & Sun.) doors open at 2:30 PM., message given at 3:00 PM., Dinner served at 3:30 PM.
