Center of Hope
Kankakee, IL 60901
815.937.4277
Details: Compassionate Ministries' Center of Hope's vision is to empower individuals and families to rise above difficult situations and to empower individuals to be the hands of Christ. Center of Hope is a client-choice food pantry. Once a week, individuals who meet the IDHS Income Guidelines can choose ten to twelve items from the shelves. The shelves contain cereal, canned vegetables and fruits, breads, pasta helpers, macaroni & cheese, cookies, snacks, crackers, pastas, soups, Kool-Aid, and canned meats (1-2 times per month). A walk-in refrigerator allows us to provide salads, more breads, fresh vegetables and fruits when available. The food pantry enables us to minister to families who are facing difficult situations. A holistic approach to providing a hand-up to families is promoted. Not only are we concerned with their physical needs but also their spiritual and emotional needs. We have 75 caring volunteers working at the Center. Our volunteers take time to listen and encourage those in need. They take time to pray for those who request prayer.
