  • Description: The Food Pantry provides families with an emergency supply of nutritiously balanced groceries, proportionate to family size, once a month. The groceries are structured to provide each familly with three meals per day for four days and are distributed the last Monday of the month. The need for such assistance usually increases at month's end when the clients typically have exhausted their food stamp benefits. The Soup Kitchen provides a nutritiously-balanced mid-day meal, six days per week, to disadvantaged individuals, especially at-risk individuals such as the elderly, children, nursing mothers, etc. Approximately 60 percent of clients are domiciled inner city dwellers and 40 percent are homeless. The Soup Kitchen also addreses the basic human needs of its clients such as grassroots intervention for alcohol/substance abuse, health referrals and health screenings, shelter needs, clothing, and personal hygiene products. The Food Pantry is open the last Monday of every month from 7:30 AM to 1:30 PM at 16 Church St. The Soup Kitchen is open Monday through Friday from 11:00am to 1:00pm at 16 Church Street. On Sundays and holidays a bag lunch is served across the street at the corner of Holmes Ave and W Main St from 8 am to 11 am.
