  • Description: The soup kitchen was inspired by the spirit of Kenneth Butler who was once a fire chief in Greenfield. He was a man who dedicated his time to helping those in need through truck-stop ministries, prison ministries, and taking in homeless people. So, when a small group of dedicated people initiated the renovation and creation of the soup kitchen, they felt there was no better person to memorialize than Chief Butler. Remodeling of the building began in December, 2008, and the kitchen opened its doors to the public on October 12, 2009. All remodeling was done by volunteers and funded by the community. The support of our volunteers and the community continues to be amazing. Open Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. - 7p.m.; Serving hours: 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. for lunch; 5 p.m. - 7 p.m. for dinner. Closed on days when the Hancock County schools are closed due to weather conditions.
