  • Description: The John Paul II Training Center hosts a Food Bank three times a week, where we are open to distribute freely food to people in need. Every month, around 200 families, which means 800 persons, come to receive some food. This represents around three tons of food on a budget of only $1000. We entirely rely on the generosity of the parishioners of St. Michael Catholic Church for our food bank. In 2011 our food bank has provided for free 453,725 pounds of food to 1,488 families including 6,582 adults and 2,933 children. Those three programs allow us to provide better quality food to the people we serve. This food bank service is a privileged place to meet the people, talk with them, and get to know them. Those who come have a real need for food, and it can be easy to guess that it may be difficult to come and ask for food. In 2011, we received more American families, and each week we have a large number of poor American families who come to the center for help. Indeed at the beginning, the center was above all for the Hispanic community. But today because of the economic crisis in America, we try to be more open to all American families in need who are more numerous than ever. The John Paul II Training Center Food Bank schedule: Tuesday: 5:30pm to 7pm, Thursday: 10am to 12pm, Saturday: 10am to 12pm (two Saturdays per month).
