- Description: The Food Bank of Southern Iowa, founded in 1983, is a private, non-profit charitable organization whose mission is to alleviate hunger through food distribution, partnership, and education. The Food Bank of Southern Iowa solicits, receives, inventories, and distributes donated food and grocery products. These products are distributed to partner agencies in 13 Southern Iowa counties who directly serve needy families and individuals through a variety of programs. As a non-profit food bank, our primary role is to provide food to the charitable agencies offering direct service to hungry Iowans.
