- Description: Our hunger relief program often means the difference between a family having enough to eat and a family doing without sufficient nutrition. We help hundreds of Jewish families throughout Chicago feed their children with dignity. Food pantry – over 1,000 individuals a month – and twice that number during the holidays - shop free of charge for the kosher food products they need most. Emergency food distribution – monthly food packages for those unable to shop at the pantry. Food vouchers – gift cards to major supermarkets so clients can purchase food without embarrassment or stigma. “Shearis Haplate†– We collect leftover food from special events and distribute it to those in need. Produce Distribution – Fresh fruits and vegetables are available at two community-based locations each week. Challah for Shabbos – Bakery challahs are distributed to families in need every Friday. We are a proud member-partner of the Greater Chicago Food Depository.
