Details: Gulf Coast Community Ministries (GCCM) offers services to people who face difficult life circumstances. The Ministry helps families who are hungry; people who suffer with chronic illness; men and women who are homeless. GCCM provides south Mississippians with food, medical care, spiritual counseling, and clothing. Since 2007, GCCM has served more than 19,000 people. The Ministry serves people of any age for food pantry, clothing, literacy and homeless services. Its free clinic, a member of the National Association of Free Clinics, serves uninsured people from 18 through 64 years of age. GCCM has two paid part-time staff and a seven-member volunteer board. The Ministry has an extensive volunteer workforce. On average, 50 – 75 volunteers work each month. The food pantry is open Tuesdays and Thursdays at 9am. We are currently only able to assist the first 50 Gulfport families. As a member of the Twelve Baskets Food Bank, we are part of an effort to decrease hunger on the coast. Many return each month for assistance due to disability, unemployment, or limited income to meet life’s basic needs. Eligibility is determined according to income and household size.

Details: Our Food Assistance program is designed to provide food to individuals, families and the homeless community who have expressed a need for food and have met all Salvation Army’s set criteria. In 2013, The Salvation Army MS Gulf Coast helped nearly 50,000 families through the food pantry. The food pantry serves first come, first served. We close when we have reached capacity for that time period. Food Pantry Opens At: Monday, Wednesday, and Friday – 8:30 AM; Monday, Wednesday: 1:30 PM. Food from our pantry is given on a first come, first serve basis. We open the pantry at the times above and close when we have reached capacity for that time period. Availability: Ages 18 – 65 – May received food from the pantry once every three months; Ages 65 and up – May receive food from the pantry once three months; Homeless clients may receive food once a week on Fridays. Please bring with you: Your lease stating utilities are included or a recent utility bill in your name; Valid state issued photo ID for adults; One form of documentation on every member of the household (For example: social security card, birth certificate, etc.); Homeless clients only need to show photo ID.

Details: Twelve Baskets Food Bank provides food and other products to member agencies in Harrison, Hancock, Jackson, Stone, Pearl River, George, and Perry Counties. Products are offered at low or no cost to member agencies. Participating agency membership is limited to charitable organizations and outreach programs recognized by the IRS as being either non-profit 501(c)3 or religious organizations who meet certain standards. These standards deal with such things as determining legitimate need of families and/or individual recipients, not charging any individual for food obtained through the Twelve Baskets Food Bank, non-discrimination in any form, proper record-keeping, food handling proceduries and avoiding duplication of services. There is no charge to agencies to become a member of Twelve Baskets Food Bank.
