Details: Neighbor to Neighbor is a non-profit organization that provides free weekly food to over 1,100 Greenwich residents and free clothing and household items to 2,600 residents of Greenwich, Stamford and Port Chester (NY). Clients are referred by Greenwich Department of Social Services and local social service agencies, schools and religious institutions. Neighbor to Neighbor provides free food to individuals and families on both an emergency and supplemental basis. While emergency clients are referred by numerous entities from the greater Greenwich area, our supplemental food clients are Greenwich residents qualified and referred by the Greenwich Department of Social Services, Family Center Head Start and RITE programs, Greenwich Public Schools and Pathways. The “client choice” food pantry allows our clients to select their own food based on nutritional guidelines and personal preferences. We have moved beyond cans and now also offer whole wheat bread, meat, 2% milk and fresh fruits and vegetables.
