Description:
H & H food closet at 216 Howard Street in Millville is open each week on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm. Each day we provide bags of groceries for our elidigble clients. Each client receives a bag of nonperishable canned goods and boxed items. A typical bag would contain: • pasta, pasta sauce • canned beans, corn, mixed vegetables, fruit • soup • rice and beans • cereal. They will also receive bags containing two or three bread products, meat products such as ground beef or chicken, eggs and fresh produce when available. We also provide a limitted number of diapers for those who can prove the need with a child's birth certificate. We provide three or four days worth of meals for the average family. Help & Hope is a partner with the Community Food Bank of New Jersey. We have a monthly delivery of groceries from the food bank. We also welcome both food and money donations from local churches and concerned community citizens. When the food arrives we have volunteers that warehouse, bag and distribute it. We also have select volunteers that man the front desk and fill out the necessary paperwork. Our major problem is having enough food to last through the whole month. We get delivery on the third Monday and are usually very row on food by the beginning of the month.
