Since our founding in 1992, Kitchen Angels has responded to the urgent needs of those in our community who have been overlooked by traditional service providers. Kitchen Angels serves those under the age of 60 who are living with a chronic or terminal illness, the elderly in severe medical crisis, and dependents (under the age of 12) of single parent clients.

Details: We are a 501c3 Non-Profit. We exist to feed the hungry in Lovington. We have a weekly food pantry that is open on Tuesdays from 4-5pm. Our backsnack program for kids in the schools happens every Thursday. Around 100 students are able to have food for the weekend. We are a RoadRunner Mobile Food pantry that happens every 2nd Thursday. We serve 100 families each month in this way.

We are open every Thursday for food distribution, and participants may come two Thursdays a month to receive food as well as the 4th Thursday of the month, when we distribute Federal Surplus Commodities through the TEFAP Program. Our hours are 9am to 11 am. Participants who wish to register for food distribution must bring with them proof that they reside in Sierra County--a Driver's License will not work for this--participants must have a rent receipt, a gas bill, a voter's registration card, or a municipal utility bill--something that shows the physical address of the participant. They must also indicate that their family/household income falls at or below the federal poverty guidelines. Once enrolled, participants will only need to re-enroll once a year. Emergencies are always taken into consideration.

Details: The Meadowlark Methodist Food Pantry is 100% funded by donations from High Desert United Methodist Church members to help feed the hungry of our city. All workers volunteer their time as a mission outreach to the community. The pantry is open monthly on the third Tuesday (9a-Noon) & third Thursday (1-4pm). This food is free and is available for seniors and families who (a) live in Sandoval County and, (b) meet maximum income guidelines. This institution is an equal opportunity provider.

(PSI) is a non profit 501(c)(3) corporation chartered for the purpose of offering a “safe place” where clients may use shower facilities, acquire clothing and food, and be connected with other service agencies that can provide help with housing, employment, education, rehabilitation, counseling, medical, and other needs. PSI does not charge for any service and is publicly supported. PSI’s clients include men, women, and children of all ages including many veterans and Native Americans. While PSI is a daytime facility only, under some emergency conditions and when funds are available, clients may receive temporary lodging at a local motel. We offer homemade meals for our clients every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 11 AM.

Details: In times of need, area residents may visit the St. Helena Parish Office to receive food. Parishioners may make donations to the collection for the Poor which is collected at all Masses on the first week-end of every month. These funds are used to purchase food to be distributed to the needy of all faiths. Parishioners may also contribute to the Food Pantry by bringing non-perishable food items to the parish office. Food is distributed:Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays between 1:30 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. Bob Moran Parish Center. A valid ID is required to receive assistance.
