Description:
We offer weekly bread distribution with occasional eggs, milk, and yogurt available; monthly emergency food commodities which consists of a bag of dry goods; and free clothing with an emphasis on winter readiness for children and families. The weekly bread distribution is open to all regardless of where you live and your income level; this program operates on a first come first served basis. The emergency food program distributes USDA commodities and donated foods to income eligible households in El Dorado County, offered the second Friday of the month until it is gone (usually in less than two weeks). Clothes are available at all times through our Clothes Closet, and families are encouraged to take clothes only once a month. Nobody is turned away, if there is a need. We offer special events where we widely distribute winter clothes once or twice a year. We also support families with energy assistance when a crisis occurs, and occasionally we support families with rental assistance when a grave need arises. We have limited funds for these programs, and families are eligible for assistance only one time per year. Often, these funds are quickly exhausted, so if you have a need, do not wait till the end of the month to ask for help. It never hurts to ask, but we may not always be able to help.
