Description:
Channel of Blessings was established in 2000 to assist needy people with food and other basic necessities of life. Zion Food, the former, much smaller ministry, had been in service for nearly two decades. With the help of wonderful organizations such as Feed the Children and Children’s Hunger Fund, along with Trader Joe’s, COB is able to accomplish this mandate within our sphere of influence in southern California. From a relatively small storehouse at Jubilee Church, COB moves hundreds of pallets of food each year, equaling well over 500,000 pounds. In any given month, from 29 to 34 churches, covering an area from Santa Barbara to Tijuana, Mexico, come to pick up food to distribute in their own area of ministry. In addition, many people from the local area come in to receive bags of groceries each week to feed their families, or needy neighbors. In addition, every four to six weeks COB receives and distributes a special gift of 24 pallets of non-perishable food as well as office furniture from Feed the Children; and once a year in May, Channel of Blessings participates with the United States Post Office in their annual food drive in Camarillo. Channel of Blessings benefits from the service of nearly twenty volunteers. These selfless helpers pick up food pallets, sort and bag food, assist in loading cars and trucks for those receiving large amounts of food, teach Bible studies, and clean and organize the storeroom. Without their sacrificial help, this ministry could not function. Individual/family pickup times are: Sundays after service from 12:30 to 1:30 pm; and Wednesday from 8:30 to 9:30 pm after mid-week service. Church/Ministry pickup time is Wednesday from 1:00 to 2:30 pm after the Bible study. He that hath pity upon the poor lendeth unto the Lord; and that which he hath given will he pay him again. Prov. 19:17.
