Description:
Each year more than 200 tons of food of all kinds flow through the Yokefellow Helping Center and Pantry and into food boxes for more than 4,000 families. Our food sources include local grocery stores, the Food Bank of Northwest North Carolina, area churches and goodhearted folk who bring us donations. Food drives help us in the spring and fall, and we are especially in need of food donations in the summer and winter. While canned food of all types is welcome fresh produce, donations of meat products, canned fruit, and fruit juice are especially treasured. Dry goods such as rice, pintos, mashed potatoes, and pasta can be combined with meat or meat sauces to make food go farther. The food pantry is open Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays for client applications but we are always willing to step in for emergencies.
