Description:
We believe that anyone can experience a financial crisis. When a crisis occurs, we offer targeted short-term emergency assistance to solve the crisis. We believe it is important to treat families with respect and compassion. Crisis Control Ministry was founded in 1973 by religious congregations in Winston-Salem to offer better coordinated financial assistance for people in need. As a faith-based organization, we extend God’s grace to the families we serve. We are the largest emergency assistance provider in Forsyth County, and served over 17,000 people in FY 2015. Many residents of Forsyth County who are in a financial crisis do not have enough food in the home, particularly nutritious food that their family needs. When a family is in financial crisis, providing a substantial food order for them allows hunger to be relieved. People requesting food through Crisis Control Ministry must be the Head of Household and are asked to provide their lease and income verification. Families select items in our Client Choice Food Pantry based upon eating preferences and each food order is designed to provide nutritious meals that will last for a two-week period. Specific foods provided are determined by inventory levels and donations. The average food order consists of at least 60 different food items including milk, eggs, meat, fresh produce, and toiletries, all selected by the shopper.
