Description:
Annually the Union County Community Shelter feeds approximately 45,000 hot meals per year at the Soup Kitchen. We provide nutritional breakfast, lunch and dinners to the community’s homeless and low-income residents, acting as a stop-gap for those without the ability to acquire food on a regular basis otherwise. Our staff is certified in Safe Serve Practices, and we strive to maintain a healthy environment and serve a healthy menu. We have no means test so that anyone with a food hardship is welcome to eat a meal in the Community Shelter’s Soup Kitchen. Breakfast: 8:00 am, Lunch: 12:00 noon, Dinner: 5:00 pm. The “Hope Pantry†temporarily meets the nutritional needs of families and individuals by providing food boxes. This program provided almost 450 boxes for families last year. Clients must have referrals from local governmental agencies, churches and businesses in order to receive a food box.
