Description:
Kay’s Kitchen: Kay’s Kitchen is the true mission of St. Martin Community Center. In 1983, Kay Watson established a hot meal program in order to feed those affected by poverty in Grant County. Following her death in 1987, we named the kitchen after her out of respect for the mission she started. Through the hard work of our dedicated volunteers, Monday through Saturday, patrons assemble at Kay’s Kitchen to receive a hot, nutritious meal in a clean, friendly and respectful atmosphere. We realize that all too often, the hot lunch we serve is the only "real meal" our patrons will have today. All those who come to Kay’s Kitchen will receive a free hot meal regardless of ability to pay. No person will be turned away. In 2012, Kay’s Kitchen provided 67,136 meals to those who would have not had a hot meal otherwise. This was an increase of 25,409 meals or 37.84% from 2008. Of those, more than 14,011 meals were served to children affected by poverty. Please consider donating money, food items or volunteering to support Kay’s Kitchen. Hours: Breakfast: Monday–Saturday, 8:30 a.m.-10:00 a.m., Lunch: Monday–Friday, 11:00 a.m., Saturday, 10:30 a.m. Food Pantry: St. Martin Food Pantry assists local patrons with basic food provisions once per month to those who have limited food in their home. Patrons can choose from canned meats, canned vegetables, bread, cereal and other food items as available. St. Martin Community Center provides emergency food to those with an urgent need for provisions. Our community has a need for basic food items and toiletries due to the decline of the local and state economy, loss of jobs, welfare reform, and social changes. There are many working poor and unemployed people who must choose between food, medicine and shelter. The Food Pantry is a valuable service which must be sustained to decrease the affects of poverty within our Grant County community. Please help us to continue this service by donating money, canned food items, staple ingredients such as flour, sugar or toiletries to stock our pantry. Hours: Monday, Tuesday and Thursday 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
