Description:
The Community Kitchen is an organization in Loveland, Colorado that provides prepared meals 7 days per week to those in need of a hot, nutritious meal. We do not charge for our meals, but do accept donations. We do not ask any questions of our patrons...if someone comes to the Community Kitchen, they are eligible to dine with us. We serve Monday through Friday from 11:30am-12:30pm and Saturdays & Sundays from 3-4pm. Our facility is at 427 N. Garfield Avenue in downtown Loveland, attached to the Loveland Meals on Wheels building. Our meals are purchased from the Loveland Meals on Wheels, who is our neighbor and landlord. This results in meals which are well balanced in all aspects. In addition, we provide beverages, fruit and desserts (when possible) to supplement the meals. Beverages, fruit and desserts are usually either donated or purchased at the Larimer County Food Bank. We also provide "To Go bags" to our patrons upon request. To Go bags contain nutritious snack food items that are either donated to Community Kitchen or purchased by us. Community Kitchen is an organization primarily supported by volunteers. We do have a part-time Director, which is a paid position. Each day the meals are served and the kitchen is set up and cleaned by volunteer teams. These teams serve on a monthly basis and are usually from churches, service groups or individuals from the community. Volunteers also pick up donated food items from local businesses (e.g The Black Steer, King Soopers, Starbucks, Henry's) or purchase items from Larimer County Food Bank or stores in the community. Community Kitchen is an incorporated 501 ( C ) 3 organization.
