- Description: Wednesday Food Pantry: The Food Pantry is open Wednesdays from 10 AM to just before noon. In conjunction with the Community FoodBank of New Jersey, Christ Church provides fresh and boxed groceries and frozen meats to families and individuals in need. A dedicated group of parishioners gather each week to pick up and then distribute the food. Although primarily serving residents of East Orange, our actual "catchment" goes far beyond the immediate neighborhood to include residents from as far away as Irvington, South Orange and Elizabeth. Saturday Soup Kitchen: Each Saturday the Soup Kitchen opens its doors to provide a hot meal served with love and respect from 12 to 1 PM. People from other religious communities and from business organizations all over northern New Jersey make up our dedicated group of volunteers who serve on a rotating basis to provide the delicious and creative meals our guests enjoy. Things begin when the volunteers gather at about 10:30 to arrange the hall and prepare the meal. They serve it and usually provide our guests with a bag lunch to take with them. Then it's time to clean up and depart, usually by about 1 PM.
