  • Description: G. L. Hawthorne's Lad Soup Kitchen opened in 2008. Our first feedings took place at the Martin Luther King Jr. Park in Winter Haven, Florida. The volume of people being fed grew so rapidly that the park was not sufficient to handle the need. The Lad's Soup Kitchen's location moved to a facility that currently feeds approximately 300 meals per week.
