Faith Kitchen
Comment from Dawn: Hi! I work at a soup kitchen in Morristown and we are looking to possibly make some changes and I was wondering if I could ask you all a few questions to get a feel for how others are doing things. I am actually familiar with Eva's in that I approached you all a few years ago and we teamed up and ran 2 very successful "Street Stores" for the underserved in the community of Paterson! I know you are doing brilliant things and value all that happens there. I was wondering if you could tell me if you use plasticware or silverware in your soup kitchen. I know, as a society, we are leaning towards lessening our environmental impact and I am looking at ways we can do that at CSK and this is one thing that came to mind. I'm wondering if it's feasible and if others are doing it at all. If there are other things you are doing that you've changed to move away from plastic, as it were, I'd love to learn about it! Thank you so much for your time. I'm looking forward to hearing from you. Warm regards, Dawn

- Description: Faith Kitchen operates Monday through Saturday from 11:30am to 12:30pm and is located above Trinity Lutheran Church. We serve nutritious meals, free of charge, to ALL who come to eat. Everyone is welcome at Fatih Kitchen! With the help of over 250 volunteers from 23 organizations, we served 40,640 meals in 2015! In 2015 we were blessed by the Food Bank of NJ and Acme Supermarkets to be able to offer 400-600 lbs of fresh produce weekly (breads and produce) allowing our clients better food and at times a bit to take home! With cuts to the food stamps programs the people in the community need food now more than ever and we hope that you will stop in if you are hungry and donate if you are blessed with enough to share. The Faith Kitchen provides a safe place for conversation and referrals to services needed. Faith Kitchen shares space with Edna's Haven so clients can come for lunch and stay for help with a variety of resources or to socialize.
