Details: Open Mondays, Wednesday and Thursdays, Merrick’s food shelf serves 60 families a day. To ensure fairness and to prevent the need to arrive early, all eligible participants will enter their name into a drawing for numbers 1-60. You may enter the drawing 30 minutes prior to distribution. Please do not arrive earlier. If your name is not called during the lottery for the day please return on our next business day. Food Shelf Schedule: Monday: Names entered into lottery upon arrival at 2:30pm. Food distribution begins at 3:00pm. Wednesday: Names entered into lottery upon arrival at 9:30am. Details: After more than 20 years in operation, the Concordia University Food Shelf continues to serve a growing number of students. The Food Shelf opens on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month from 12 p.m. - 2 p.m. to allow income eligible off-campus students and members of the local community to select a bag or two of groceries.

Details: The Food Shelf and Clothing Closet administers a broad range of emergency, referral and other support services. It is located at Hallie Q. Brown Community Center. The Food Shelf operates on a Client Choice model which allows clients to select what they need to fill their allocation versus being given a pre-package parcel of food that may contain items they are unable to consume. The Clothing Closet provides free clothing and small household items for families. The goal is to assist families in achieving self-sufficiency and self-empowerment, thus reducing their dependency on the food shelf and other services for their health and well-being.

Both locations provide food to those seeking assistance, and connect participants to critical community resources that help them move “from survive to thrive.” To use the Food Market at the Wellstone Center there are no requirements. Anyone can make an appointment and no I.D. is required. You can live anywhere in the world, no questions asked.
