Saint Joseph Food Pantry (Caring Group Food Pantry) Newton, NJ 07860 973.383.1985 |
Details: Saint Joseph Church is proud to sponsor our "Caring Group" Food Pantry located on the side entrance of our Parish Center at 22 Halsted Street, Newton (the white building immediately to the right of the church). In response to the Lord's mandate: "When I was hungry you gave me to eat" (Matthew 25:35) our parish community is proud to be the largest food pantry in Sussex County, providing food for 450-500 people each and every fourth Sunday of the month between 1:30-3:30pm (anyone with a Newton Township address is welcome to come). On each Monday from 11:00am-12:00Noon, food is also made available to those who were not able to come on Sunday (these people also need to be Newton residents). Mondays our volunteers allow individuals to come and choose the food they would like from our pantry food shelves. Our parish has changed the way in which we collect food. Ever since the assisgnment of Father ST, he has asked families to bring canned and boxed food each and every week to church. A monestary collection is taken up in church for the Food Pantry once a month and the designated wooden collection boxes clearly marked "Caring Group" accept donations at any time. If you would like to be part of this very rewarding ministry by either bringing food to the pantry or assisting the many volunteers who distribute, pack and organize the food donations, please contact Mrs. Sarah Samanns at: 973.919.7666 in the evenings. |
