Details: LINK has been in existence since 1985 providing nutritious home-cooked meals to families and individuals in our community at no cost to them and with no questions asked. A growing number of families with young children are coming to LINK. Over 35,500 meals were served in FY 2011-2012, with a 2.5% increase in the number of guests served compared to the previous year. LINK is totally a volunteer-based operation with one paid employee, the Coordinator. Currently LINK is supported by 46 religious organizations, full deal mealbusinesses and civic groups in our Community. Our guests are most appreciative of the wonderful food that they provide. Several of the groups Have been serving since LINK’s began. LINK’s existence would be seriously jeopardized if it were not for the support provided by the congregation of The First Christian Church. |

Details: Heartland provides families about a week’s worth of groceries every month. Families can receive food once per month. Food is collected on a rotating basis from groups throughout town, including churches, clubs and service organizations. |

Details: Since 1974, Catholic Charities of Northeast Kansas’ Emergency Assistance Program has played a significant role in the community’s safety net for people of all faiths. Services provided meet the immediate, basic survival needs of families with low incomes while staff members also help clients identify long-term solutions that lead to self-sufficiency.The program’s goal is to ensure families' and individuals' basic needs are met - having enough food to prevent going to bed hungry; rent money to avoid eviction and homelessness; water to bathe in or prepare food; electricity to run a refrigerator and lights; and gas to heat their homes and cook. The Program operates at the organization’s Emergency Assistance Centers. All centers are located in fully accessible buildings where clients may walk-in or make an appointment. Some services are available in Lawrence. There are no fees for services provided. |

Details: Cornerstone Southern Baptist Church has a small food pantry. It meets the short term needs of members & people from the community who need help with food items. The food pantry is open on Mondays from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM.This ministry requires a photo I.D., filling out a simple single sided application form & visiting with the pantry staff or pastoral staff . |

We have a team of volunteers and interns dedicated to helping low-income community residents of all ages identify strengths, set goals, and accomplish success. We want anyone willing to pursue their dreams in life to have the necessary community support to do so; come join us. Food Pantry: In collaboration with Just Food, our Choice-based food pantry allows low-income community members to attain food security by personally choosing from our nutritional selections. Since implementing the choice system, we have noticed that our clients are choosing the healthy items such as fruit and whole grains. Mobile Food Pantry: Once a month at the Douglas County fairgrounds, Ballard facilitates a mobile food pantry in partnership with Harvesters, providing another source of food security for our community. |
