Details: In 1983 Father James Hoge OSB, then pastor of St. Benedict Church, Crystal River identified a need in our county to provide food and clothing for the needy. He established Daystar Life Center as a mission of the Diocese of St. Petersburg. Financial services were added to meet the growing needs of Daystar clients. Daystar continues to add services and programs to meet developing needs within the county. Daystar Life Center also operates a thrift store that provides funding for our programs and our operating expenses. We are grateful for the generous support we receive for our thrift shop. Daystar proudly works hand in hand with United Way of Citrus County. The Thrift Store, Food Pantry, Client Services Office, and Staff Office are open from: 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, except on federal holidays and from Christmas through New Year's Day.

Now each Tuesday from 10am-1pm, they open the food pantry to the community, by organizing and preparing brown bags to give away to families. By ministering to the physical need of the recipients, they are able to show the love of Jesus in a caring, and compassionate manner that allows them to glorify the Lord and witness to those that participate.
