Our current policy is to serve a family once every two months. In 1997, Calvary Baptist Church and the association joined together to begin a food ministry that could be supported and used by all of the churches in the association. The Shepherd's Basket is run entirely by volunteers from the associational churches who greet clients, prepare paperwork, sack groceries and pray with those requesting. A member of the MSA Executive Cabinet, Nick Droege, worked with faculty and students to establish a similar pantry for the Mizzou community. Tiger Pantry serves as an auxiliary of the Central and Northeast Missouri Food Bank, providing assistance to anyone affiliated with the university, including students, faculty, and staff. The pantry not only provides food for its clients, but also works to educate the campus on issues of food insecurity and the intersectionality of hunger.
