Details: Seeds of Hope began feeding the homeless through our Hot Lunch Program in 1998. It’s moved locations a few times over the years, but Calvary Baptist Church has been its home since 2002. A free hot meal is served Monday – Saturday from 11am-12pm year round. Volunteers drive 110 miles round trip daily to pick up food daily from St. Mary’s Food Bank in Phoenix. It arrives at Calvary Baptist Church cooked and ready to serve by other volunteers who have prepped the kitchen and eating area. In 2012 we’ve seen 582 people come through our Hot Lunch Program. We have served 8,265 meals. We do more than just serve food here. We also distribute emergency food boxes to those in need. During winter months coats, blankets, hats, gloves, and other warm items are distributed because of the support of many community businesses and groups who organize drives. A free blood pressure and sugar check is done by a local medical center and agencies like Community Action Human Resource Association of Pinal County visit regularly to assist Hot Lunch participants who are looking to better there situation by providing resources to help find employment and housing. Mon.-Sat. 11AM-12PM.
