Details: The Disch-Declouet Social Service Center, a non-profit organization, serves the poor and needy of Iberia parish with immediate assistance for critical and basic human needs. The assistance is provided without a waiting period and without charge. Our mission includes treating all clients with dignity, respect, and cheerfulness; counseling them on personal and financial issues; encouraging them in their illnesses, grief, and other troubles; and praying with them.The Social Service Center has no paid staff and is run by approximately 35 dedicated, permanent volunteers. We also have temporary volunteers, such as seminarians who work at the center to get some small ideal of the scope of poverty and the problems of the poor in Iberia Parish and how the Social Service Center addresses this. Our funding sources are: Individual donations (56%); Churches (24%); Untied Way (16%); Iberia parish (4%). Almost 40 Years of Serving Basic Human Needs. Each year we provide approximately: 4500 instances of utility assistance, 4500 bags of groceries, 3500 instances of clothing assistance, 300 instances of rent assistance, dentistry, burial assistance, transportation, hurricane relief, school uniforms, school supplies, milk, counseling on reducing expenses and increasing income, referrals to other agencies and prayer.

Details: His Hands Outreach Ministry is sponsored by First Baptist Church of Jonesboro and supported by numerous churches in the community including Beech Springs Baptist Church, Caney Lake Baptist Church, Jonesboro United Methodist Church, St. Lucy's Catholic Church, Siloam Baptist Church and Springhill Baptist Church as well as many individuals and Jonesboro Walmart. The store front ministry is now open Monday through Friday mornings from 8:00 - 10:00 a.m. for food and clothing distribution free of charge to Jackson Parish residents in need of assistance (based on income guidelines) as well as providing household items for burnout victimss and school uniform assistance. Currently over 400 families receive grocery assistance once every three months and over 100 individuals receive clothing assistance once every 30 days. The ministry's long term goal is to be able to provide grocery assistance to our families every other month but we need your help to do so both financially and by being our volunteer base. Donations of clothing and household items are also needed. Any items that we are unable to use are sent to Rolling Hills or to Charity Shoes and Clothing in Dallas, Texas. You may drop off donations by our front door on weekday mornings before 10:00 a.m. After that time, please leave your donations on the ramp by the side door. Please note that all food donations need to be dropped off on the ramp regardless of the time of donation.

Details: St. Mary Outreach, Inc. (est. Oct. 25, 1985) is a private, non-profit, and tax-exempt corporation, which is organized on a non-stock basis. Although there are no stockholders, our organization utilizes a corporate structure similar to a for-profit organization. Members elect a board of trustees, which includes a president, vice-president, secretary, and a treasurer. The board also employs an executive director who is responsible for day-to-day Outreach operations, many of which are discussed and evaluated at monthly board meetings alongside financial matters, program activities, goals, and the effectiveness of the programs administered by Outreach. At present, our office staff includes two part-time and two full-time employees, as well as several volunteers for whom we’re very grateful. Finally, we’re proud to mention our volunteer advisory committee, which reviews applications for rent and utility assistance. The Outreach center supports a food and hygiene pantry to accommodate the general and specific needs of our patrons. We aim to provide a well-balanced diet, including special needs, as economically as possible. We also have a clothing room available.

Details: Our Food Bank distributes several tons of groceries per month. Each month, on the third Saturday, our church distributes free groceries to qualified families. As a part of the North Louisiana Food Bank, we give the groceries to families who qualify under the government's guidelines. On each of these monthly distributions, we normally give away almost 5 tons of food (the last distribution was 9,900 lbs). Our distribution day is the third Saturday of each month at 9:00 AM.

Details: The Mustard Seed Food Distribution Program runs a Food Pantry and a Clothing Bank that distribute donated household goods, non-perishable foods, hygiene products, and clothes to the community. It also provides advocacy and referrals, and links residents (including those with special needs) to area resources so that their needs can be met. The Mustard Seed Food Distribution Program is an income-based program that currently operates Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 11 AM – 3 PM BY APPOINTMENT ONLY. At this time the Food Pantry is only accepting new enrollments from the St Bernard Parish zip codes of 70032, 70043, 70085, 70092 and 70075. The first step in receiving food is to set up an Intake Interview by coming to the Community Center office between 10 AM and 5 PM Monday-Friday to schedule a date and time and receive a list of all documents that must be brought to the interview. If the interview is successful and all required documents are provided, then an appointment time will be assigned to receive food from the food pantry. No one will receive a food pantry appointment until all of their documents have been provided to the interviewer.
