  • Description: A cheerful atmosphere and volunteers who treat clients with dignity and respect greet those coming in for help. We are witnessing an astounding need in our community. Friends and neighbors are out of jobs, single mothers have to decide "do I pay my rent or feed my children", senior citizens make the decision to eat or pay for their medicine, and families are struggling to meet mounting expenses. Out of money, and nearly out of hope, people come through our doors every day looking for help. As a community, we must help those in need. Our Mission: To provide food, education, and spiritual support to low income families in Rochester and the surrounding communities, demonstrating the love of Christ to all. Food and supplies for the Market come from a variety of different sources. Food Finders Food Bank in Lafayette serves Fulton County pantries. Matthew's Market is the approved agency in Fulton County to receive supplies from the Midwest Food Bank in Indianapolis. Private corporations, USDA Testing Lab, bulk food stores, donations from private individuals, and organized food drives assist greatly in stocking the shelves. Area farmers have been generous in donating beef, pork, and garden produce. Hunters provide venison. Anyone with an address in Fulton County regardless of age or race, that meet the Federal Income Guidlines for Poverty can receive food at Matthew's Market. The Guidelines are posted in the market area. The client is required to sign a self declaration of income statement including the number of people in the household each time they visit the market. Hours of Operation: Mondays 11:30am - 1:30pm; Tuesdays 4:00pm - 6:00pm; Fridays 11:30am - 1:30pm
