  • Description: The mission of the Nathan Hale Veterans Outreach Centers Food Pantry is to provide assistance to families at risk by supplementing food to their family budget. We gather, store and distribute goods to those who find themselves in time of special need and crisis. Our mission is based on a compassionate hand out and hand up as we respect the dignity of each person we serve. We will use our mission to encourage community coordination and efforts to run food drives to help us sustain the quality of the food pantry. The Nathan Hale Veterans Outreach Centers Food Pantry Program is for supplementary food supplies for households at risk. The food pantries at the Nathan Hale Veterans Outreach Centers are open to everyone from the towns in which we serve. The food pantry is intended to be a supplement to the nutritional needs of the families in our communities. Citizens are allowed to use the pantry once a week, after they have provided the necessary information to show the need for our program. No one is ever turned away who comes to the pantry food. Citizens are allowed to pick up food from the pantries during scheduled hours. A volunteer must be present to provide a fair share of pantry items to each person. Together, our pantries help 150 veterans, veterans’ spouses and their families meet their nutritional needs. Recently our pantries have found increased use from families in towns such as Lakeville and Middleboro. Food baskets are made available during the holiday seasons. Full turkey dinners from appetizer to desserts were supplied to 150 families last year throughout the holiday seasons. Volunteers worked together to assemble and deliver these freshly made baskets to pantry clients. Recipients must be a client of Nathan Hale Veterans Outreach Centers or fill out an Assistance Request Form to receive food from the pantry.
