- Description: We opened our doors in 1989 to serve 35 families as the Community Pantry. Today, we provide 1,750 bags of food each week to more than 5,000 residents of our area. That’s 110,000 meals every month. We engage our community in other ways too, including nutrition programs, advocacy and food stamp (SNAP) outreach. In the transformation from pantry to food bank, we recently expanded our operation to serve the needs of local non-profit agencies as well as individuals. But we still operate our pantry program for local families every Friday and Saturday at the warehouse in Hollister.
