Tewksbury Community Pantry, Inc.
Tewksbury, MA 01876

Details: The Tewksbury Community Pantry was established in January 1995 in response to the desire of many community leaders to address the hunger issue in Tewksbury. Prior to that time, a smaller-scale food share program had been operated from St. William's Church of Tewksbury. When it became apparent that this program could no longer adequately handle the needs of the town, the "Pantry" came into existence. With support from town officials, a rent-free site of operation was provided at the Center School on Pleasant Street for almost three years. The Tewksbury Community Pantry is currently housed in a building which was specifically constructed for the Pantry. Through generous donations of money, labor, and building materials, the community erected the existing building on the site of the Department of Public Works. The Tewksbury Community Pantry provides short and long-term food assistance to Tewksbury residents in financial need and to people who are referred to the Pantry by Tewksbury clergy and the town clerk's office. Confidential assistance is given to everyone who receives food from the Pantry. Anyone seeking food assistance should call (978) 858-2273. Leave a message and your call will be returned. Voice mail messages are retrieved on a weekly basis.
