Details: While hosted and operated at Otterville Presbyterian Church, the food pantry has become a labor of love involving the entire community. It is operated solely by volunteer efforts, and all supplies are donated either by food banks or individuals within the community. We are especially grateful for the churches in the community who hold food drives, the school which also has a food drive each year, and the Boy Scouts as well as many other organizations and churches which support this need. Other members of the community have provided refrigerator and freezer space to us to maintain and store items. We have grown from just a handful of families to up to 54 families in a given week - an especially impressive number since our pantry only operates 2 hours at a time. We are open the Second and Fourth Tuesday of every month (occasionally changed by holidays), from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM. However, we do not close until every family has had the opportunity to go through. The Session at Otterville Presbyterian Church has not only provided the basement space where the pantry is held, but has supported the ministry by opening Weier Hall at 4:30 for registration and seating of the large number of families who come. |
